Mr Douglas Wilson

With a background including analytical chemistry, Douglas brings a wealth of experience to Index, having previously been Food Examiner and Team Leader in a Public Analyst (PA) laboratory. Through this he was Consultant Microbiologist for the Association of Public Analysts and still teaches on the Master of Chemical Analysis higher degree program. Sitting on various professional groups and committees (including BSI), Douglas understands the high standards required in the field of laboratory testing. This has been emphasized by not only maintaining UKAS accreditation for food, water and cosmetic microbiology but also gaining Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) certification for pathogen testing while at the PA laboratory. He therefore has experience working to the highest pharmaceutical level which earned Kraft Foods approval as a pathogen testing laboratory. From this, Index Microbiology will gain a vault of laboratory knowledge and know-how providing assurance to clients of the high quality service offered.
He also provides comprehensive advice and training for sampling, enabling Index to provide a full service from sample taking to reporting. Food Hygiene certification can also be provided and, with experience as an Associate Lecturer for the Open University, any training will be at a professional level.
