Testing

A range of UKAS Accredited microbiological tests are available for the examination of drinking water, healthcare water samples, temporary water supplies, private water supplies and pharmaceutical products.  Test methods are based on recognized standard methods, for example The Microbiology of Drinking Water methods, British Standards, ISO standards and British Pharmacopeia and are performed by experienced members of staff who understand the requirements of clients.  Interpretation of results is based on current legislation and regulations, alongside the experience of experts in the field of microbiology, decontamination, sterile services and public health.

Testing available (contact laboratory for full list):

Legionella species, including L. pneumophila serogroups 1-14
Pseudomonas aeruginosa
Drinking water samples (tested according to DWTS standards)
Pool water samples (including spa, hydrotherapy and swimming pools)
Healthcare samples (Final Rinse waters, dialysis, renal, dental)
Chemistry testing
Quality Control sterility testing of pharmaceutical samples (household and personal wipes and associated fluids)

Sampling

Results from a microbiological test are only as good as the sample – if taken incorrectly the results are meaningless.  Index can therefore assist with sampling, whether with advice or as a bespoke package where experienced staff can train your staff on site to provide hands on support.

Consultancy and Risk Assessment

As well as providing microbiological testing, Index also offers risk assessment and consultancy services to a variety of businesses.  These range from Legionella risk assessment to food hygiene audits and are performed by professionals with experience of water systems, food production facilities and catering services.  Based on current guidance and regulatory documents, the audits or risk assessments can assist with compliance for businesses in a variety of situations.  Contact the laboratory for further information.
